I spent some time this morning listening to a talk by Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar.  One thing that was striking to me was their (Obama Administration) willingness to embrace a policy eerily similar to that of the previous administration regarding off-shore drilling.  Mr. Salazar mentioned that it was an avenue that will be a part of a diverse energy strategy by the U.S., which includes heavy investment in wind and revamping the energy grid.  Is it just me or wasn’t Obama’s previous policy position one that wholly condemned off-shore drilling?  In fairness of course this was the Secretary of Interior and not Obama himself and Salazar is certainly being trusted by the administration to produce on the energy front.  Certainly there was a change in tone from the last administration, but as far as policy…not convinced that they can claim “change” on this one.
